10 Days Vietnam Tour Package

10 Days Vietnam Tour Package: A Complete Day-by-Day Plan for Indian Travellers

Ten days is the first length at which Vietnam stops feeling like a rush job. You can wander Hanoi's lanes, sleep on Ha Long Bay, float through Ninh Binh's limestone rivers, spend real time in Hoi An and still reach Ho Chi Minh City without sprinting. Here is our 10 days Vietnam tour package, day by day, with honest notes on pacing, season, cost and who should tweak it.

Why a 10 Days Vietnam Tour Package Is the Sweet Spot

Vietnam stretches about 1,650 km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, and almost everyone who tries to fit it into a week ends up choosing between the north and the centre. Ten days removes that choice. You get three quite different countries in one trip: the cool, lake-and-lantern north, the sunlit central coast, and the loud, humid, delicious south.

It also changes the feel of the journey. On a 10 days Vietnam tour package you can afford two or three nights in most places, which means unpacking once, sleeping in, and seeing an old town after the day-trippers leave. Our planners follow two simple rules: no more than two internal flights, and an easy evening after every long transfer.

Duration10 days / 9 nights
RouteHanoi → Ha Long → Ninh Binh → Hoi An → Ho Chi Minh City
Stays8 hotel nights + 1 cruise night
Internal flights2 (Hanoi–Da Nang, Da Nang–HCMC)
Best monthsFebruary – April
PaceRelaxed to moderate

7, 10 or 14 days? Seven days comfortably covers two regions, ten covers three at an unhurried pace, and fourteen adds a beach finish such as Phu Quoc or a mountain leg in Sapa. Still comparing trip styles before you fix the length? Our guide to the best Vietnam tour packages sets them side by side.

Hoi An is a three-night base so you can add Ba Na Hills, My Son or a beach afternoon without changing hotels.

Days 1–5 of the 10 Days Vietnam Itinerary: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay & Ninh Binh

The north is where the trip starts slowly and then gets scenic. Expect chaotic motorbike streets, calm green water and a lot of steps you did not plan for.

Day 3 and Day 4 are spent on and around Ha Long Bay's limestone islets.

North Vietnam

Days 1–5 · 4 nights
  1. Day 1Land at Hanoi, meet your driver-guide and check in. If you have energy, take a slow loop around Hoan Kiem Lake and have a first bowl of bún chả for dinner.
  2. Day 2A full Hanoi day: Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh complex (the mausoleum has limited opening days, so we keep an alternative ready), egg coffee, an Old Quarter walk and an evening water-puppet show.
  3. Day 3Drive to Ha Long Bay (about 2.5 to 3 hours by expressway), board your cruise around noon, kayak between the islets, visit a cave and watch sunset from the deck. A short cooking demo usually follows dinner.
  4. Day 4Sunrise Tai Chi, brunch as you sail back, then a 3.5 to 4 hour drive to Ninh Binh. Check in to a countryside stay with rice-field views; the sunset climb at Hang Mua (roughly 500 steps) is optional.
  5. Day 5A morning boat ride through the Trang An caves and karsts, a UNESCO-listed landscape. Drive to Hanoi airport for a late-afternoon flight to Da Nang, then a 45-minute transfer to Hoi An.

Planner's note on Day 5: this is the longest day of the trip, so we book a flight that leaves in the late afternoon, never at midday. Strong winds or storm warnings can also reroute a Ha Long cruise, which is why a sound package keeps a backup hotel night ready.

Days 6–7: Hoi An & Da Nang on Your 10 Days Vietnam Tour

After three busy days, the central coast is the exhale. Hoi An is small enough to walk, and three nights here is the part of the trip people usually say they wish had been longer.

Hoi An lantern old town during a 10 days Vietnam itinerary
Hoi An's old town is at its best after sunset, once the lanterns come on.

Central Vietnam

Days 6–7 · Hoi An base
  1. Day 6Leave early for Ba Na Hills (about an hour away): the cable car, the Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands and the French Village, ahead of the tour-bus crowds. Rest at the hotel in the afternoon, then walk the old town as the lanterns light up.
  2. Day 7Hoi An at your own speed: a cycle through the Tra Que vegetable village, a hands-on cooking class, then tailor fittings. Prefer something different? Swap in a sunrise visit to the My Son sanctuary (about an hour's drive) or a beach afternoon at My Khe. End with a Thu Bon River lantern boat.

Tailor tip: most Hoi An tailors can turn a garment around in 24 to 48 hours, so place orders on the evening you arrive (Day 5 or Day 6). That leaves time for a fitting and one adjustment before you fly out on Day 8.

Days 8–10: Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi & the Mekong Delta

The south is a different tempo again: hot, fast and food-obsessed. Two nights are enough to feel the city and add one meaningful day trip.

South Vietnam

Days 8–10 · 2 nights
  1. Day 8Fly Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City (about 1 hour 20 minutes), check in and cover the colonial core: Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica (exterior), the Central Post Office and Ben Thanh Market. Dinner by the Saigon River.
  2. Day 9Choose your day trip. The Cu Chi tunnels (1.5 to 2 hours each way) bring wartime history to life, while the Mekong Delta around My Tho and Ben Tre offers sampan rides, coconut-candy workshops and fruit orchards. The evening is free.
  3. Day 10Slow breakfast, last-minute shopping or coffee, then an airport transfer timed to your flight home.

We do not squeeze Cu Chi and the Mekong into the same day. Both involve long drives, and doing them back to back turns a highlight into a blur. If you want both, add a night.

Good to know: the War Remnants Museum, a popular Day 8 stop, contains graphic wartime photographs. Families with young children often skip it and spend the time at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens or a pool afternoon instead.

How to Tweak the 10 Days Vietnam Package for Your Group

The route above works as a first-timer default. These are the changes we make most often when the traveller profile is different:

Family with childrenBook family rooms at every stop, keep Fantasy Park at Ba Na Hills as the big treat, add a pool afternoon, and choose the Mekong day over the tight Cu Chi tunnels for small kids.
Honeymoon or anniversaryUpgrade to a private balcony cruise cabin, add the Hoi An lantern boat, a couple's spa evening and a private cooking class.
Senior parentsSkip the Hang Mua steps, keep Trang An as a seated boat ride, and request hotels with lifts and shorter sightseeing windows.
Beach loversReplace the Ninh Binh night with an extra Da Nang beach night, or extend to 12 days and finish on Phu Quoc, a short flight from Ho Chi Minh City.
Only 8 or 9 days of leaveDrop Ninh Binh and fly directly from Hanoi after the cruise, or cut Hoi An to two nights.

What's Included in a 10 Days Vietnam Tour Package

Before comparing quotes, line up what each one actually covers. Here is what a well-built 10-day package should list in writing:

  • Stays: 8 hotel nights plus 1 cruise night at the category you choose, with breakfast daily and all meals on the cruise.
  • Transport and guiding: private air-conditioned vehicle with an English or Hindi-speaking driver-guide, plus airport transfers.
  • Sightseeing: entry tickets for every listed attraction, including the cruise, Trang An and Ba Na Hills where they appear in the plan.
  • Support: e-visa application assistance and 24×7 Hindi and English help from our Hanoi office.
  • Domestic flights: the two internal flights can be built into your quote or booked separately; we show which on the first page so there are no surprises.
  • Usually excluded: international flights, the government e-visa fee, travel insurance, personal expenses and meals not listed in the plan.

Best Time for a 10 Days Vietnam Tour

The tricky part of a north-to-south route is that Vietnam's three regions do not share a single dry season. This is how the main windows compare:

WindowNorthCentralSouthVerdict
Feb – AprMild, can be misty in Feb–MarDry and sunnyHot and dryBest overall
Nov – JanCool to cold, clear skiesRain eases from DecDry and pleasantGood, pack layers
May – AugHot, humid, storms buildHot beach weatherShort daily showersBeach-friendly
Sep – OctStorm risk, easing in OctHeaviest rain, flood riskRainy seasonFlexible plans only

Dates to watch: Diwali week and the Christmas–New Year fortnight are peak seasons for Indian travellers, and cruise cabins and 4-star hotels can sell out 6 to 8 weeks ahead. Also note that Tet, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, falls in early February in 2027. Many shops and restaurants close and prices rise, so check exact dates before fixing a February trip.

What Decides the Price of a 10 Days Vietnam Tour Package

You will see wildly different numbers online for the same-looking 10-day trip. These are the factors behind the gap:

FactorHow it moves your budget
Hotel category3-star, 4-star and 5-star stays change the total more than anything else.
Cruise cabinA standard cabin and a private balcony suite are very different price points.
Travel monthDiwali, Christmas–New Year and Tet carry peak-season rates.
Group sizeA vehicle and guide shared by four costs less per person than for two.
Internal flightsFares and baggage allowance vary by date, so booking early helps.
Add-onsSpa evenings, private cooking classes, My Son and extra day trips are priced separately.

Why we don't print one price: a headline number for a trip this long is rarely the price you actually pay. Send us your dates, group size and hotel preference and our Hanoi team will reply with an itemised INR quote that shows every inclusion.

Practical Tips for Indian Travellers on a 10-Day Trip

  • Visa and passport: Indian passport holders need a visa, and most apply for an e-visa online. Keep your passport valid for at least six months and confirm current fees and rules on the official portal before applying.
  • Vegetarian food: learn "tôi ăn chay" (I eat vegetarian) and "không nước mắm" (no fish sauce). Fish sauce hides in many dishes, so say it at every restaurant.
  • Money: carry some Vietnamese dong for markets and small cafés, and use cards at hotels and larger restaurants. Avoid changing everything at the airport.
  • Luggage: internal flights often have tight baggage limits. Pack light and check the allowance on your fare.
  • Connectivity: buy an eSIM or local SIM on arrival instead of paying roaming charges, and install the Grab app for short city rides.
  • Temples and pagodas: cover shoulders and knees. Carry a universal plug adapter for the 220V sockets.
  • Crossing the road: in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, walk steadily and predictably. The bikes flow around you; stopping or darting is what causes trouble.

The most common mistake we see: adding a fourth region, usually Sapa or Phu Quoc, to a 10-day plan to "make the most of it." It almost always backfires. If you want one of them, extend the trip by two or three days instead.

10 Days Vietnam Tour Package: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 10 days Vietnam tour package cost from India?

The price depends on hotel category, travel month, cruise cabin type, group size and whether domestic flights are included. Because those variables move the total significantly, we send an itemised INR quote after you share your dates and group size.

Is 10 days enough to see Vietnam?

Ten days is enough for a relaxed highlights route through North, Central and South Vietnam: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. It will not cover extras such as Sapa, Da Lat or Phu Quoc, which need 12 to 14 days.

What is the best 10 days Vietnam itinerary for first-time visitors?

A proven first-timer route is Hanoi (2 nights), Ha Long Bay cruise (1 night), Ninh Binh (1 night), Hoi An (3 nights) and Ho Chi Minh City (2 nights), using two domestic flights between regions.

Which is the best month for a 10 days Vietnam tour?

February to April gives the best overlap, with mild weather in the north, dry sunshine on the central coast and dry conditions in the south. November to January also works with warm layers and some central-coast rain risk. September and October carry the highest storm risk.

Do Indian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Indian passport holders currently need a visa for Vietnam, and most travellers apply for an e-visa online through the official government portal. Rules and fees can change, so confirm them on the official site before applying. Our team guides you through the application.

Can the 10 days Vietnam tour package be customised?

Yes. You can swap Ninh Binh for more beach time, add Phu Quoc island, upgrade to a private balcony cruise cabin, change hotel categories or shift the route to suit family, honeymoon or senior travellers.

Is vegetarian or Indian food available on a Vietnam tour?

Vegetarian food is easy to find in Vietnam, and Indian restaurants operate in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Vegetarian and Jain meals on cruises and at partner restaurants can be arranged with a few days' notice.
